Extremely Fine Emperor Antoninus Pius Roman Empire silver denarius coin. 3.56g, struck 145-161 CE, RIC 137, RSC 345. Attractively toned with underlying luster. Reverse type depicts throne (believed to be a pulvinar of Jupiter or Juno).

Obverse: ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP, laureate, head of emperor right. Reverse: COS IIII, Winged thunderbolt on throne. The pulvinar was a special couch used for displaying images of the gods that they might receive offerings at ceremonies.
